Rankin's Hardware History & Timeline 

AWARDED: 1st place winner in the 2019 Knox County "BEST OF THE BEST" People's Choice.

ONLINE: To better serve customers, share the brand and tell the Rankin's story, we launched a new website.

60 years after its begining, Rankin's responded to customers' needs and once again got back into the grain business. Today's offerings included many varieties of cat and dog foods as well as larger animal feed. 

AWARDED: Frank was recognized as the 2011 Lumber Person of the Year, by the Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine.

Frank Rankin received many awards, primarily for his great customer service. Service was coined "The Rankin's Difference."   
AWARDED: The Special Recognition Award for demonstrating outstanding service to the community, given by the The Camden - Rockport - Lincolnville Chamber of Commerece.

To better serve existing customers, the Camden location completed an extensive renovation with new store fixtures and improved floor plan.

Business was bursting at the seams at the 30 Union Street location. Rankin's purchased the old vacant chicken barn at 160 Robbins Road in Hope. Most of the roofing and masonry side of the business was moved to that new location. 

As demand for grain declined, the store expanded its hardware offering. Eventually grain was completely phased out. As people's needs and demands changed, lumber and building materials were added to the product mix.

Rankin Grain moved it to its current location at 30 Union Street in Camden Maine.

Edna and Austin Rankin, worked for proprieter F.J. Wiley at 4 Union St., that sold primarily grain as well as some basic hardware and household provisions. After Wiley's death in the early 1950s, Austin and Edna took over the business and renamed it Rankin Grain.
